Here’s a commission I did for a friend a few weeks ago, a Mudkip birthday card! Here you can see the progression from sketch, to inks, to color study in Photoshop, to the final watercolor. Sadly the painting ended more muted than I would have liked, but it was a nice exercise in paying more attention to lightning moods than just shadows. Overall I’m happy with it, and it’s hard not to, cause MUDKIP! Probably might be a good idea to switch to better cardstock… this thing was really disintegrating when I was doing the generic background wash.
